Review #063 – Forza Horizon 6
The gorgeous Japanese countryside and dense urban environments gel with Forza Horizon’s open world gameplay extremely well. The feeling of street racing through Tokyo with J-pop tunes booming in the background is superb, and although I’ve never been to the country myself I think they pretty much nailed my perceived atmosphere of Japan from top to bottom.
Driving at breakneck speeds is the series’ bread and butter and it continues to feel amazing. The festival-specific set piece events remain super cool, too—the one with the giant mech is especially memorable. But even just the standard events are fun and exhilarating. The one-on-one Touge races are some of my favourite events in the game.
If you’re into “car culture” then you’ll likely enjoy the selection of models they’ve included— it’s always fun to find and soup up the same Honda Civic I own in real life. And I’ll admit I’m not the biggest fan of the series’ extravagant festival wrapping but it’s dialled back this time and is a little less cringey overall.
