Review #030 – Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour
C'mon tour.

The fact that Welcome Tour isn’t a free pack-in with the Switch 2 is quite baffling. I’m probably in the minority of people who actually enjoyed playing through the game — even if half of my time was spent reading what is essentially a glorified instruction manual — but charging money for this thing? That’s hard to justify.
One aspect of the game I can justify though is how well made it is. Everything from the clean graphic design, beautifully rendered hardware, clicky sound effects, museum-like audio design, fun mini games — it’s all very well done. There is a lot of reading and an overabundance of quizzes, but the people who made this game clearly put a lot of effort into it and I respect what they’ve done.
I do wonder if the game was originally intended to be pre-loaded on all Switch 2s out of the box because it honestly does a great job at explaining all of the console’s new and exciting features. But alas, it’s not. And while I did enjoy the game (it’s legitimately fun!), the price, and arguably the greed, is just really hard to look past.
