Review #004 – Astro Bot
Astronomically good.

I try not to be too hyperbolic when it comes to video games but Astro Bot is legitimately one of the best platformers I have ever played. Each level is very clever and fun, reminiscent of classic games like Super Mario Galaxy. Some stages are genuinely incredible — I know Nintendo is kicking themselves for not coming up with some of these ideas first.
I loved discovering every PlayStation-themed bot and there’s a bunch of other extra goodies like hidden puzzle pieces and secret exits that lead to other, special stages. I would constantly go back to older levels to find everything if I missed them the first time.
It’s hard not to describe this game as anything other than pure platforming bliss, and it’s right up there with some of the best games in the genre. It’s really well crafted, and I am so, so glad this Asobi team got to make a bigger, more robust successor to Astro’s Playroom.
