Review #58 – Planet of Lana II

Planet of Lana II isn’t a super flashy sequel but its puzzle-platforming gameplay remains engaging throughout. New traversal mechanics like swimming and wall-jumping give the general movement a little more oomph, and being able to take control of other creatures adds some variety to the otherwise familiar puzzle solving.

Just don’t expect any major shifts to its already established blueprint. If you’ve played the first game then you’ll know exactly what to expect here. It’s a very good game, but it’s almost indistinguishable from the original. Even the art style, while gorgeously colourful, is basically identical.

Regardless of its familiarity the game is great either way, and if Wishfully ends up making a third game I’ll definitely be there day one. I’ve always been a fan of the puzzle-platformer gameplay style going way to back to Limbo on the Xbox 360, and the Planet of Lana games emulate the genre elegantly.
