Review #016 – Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

I’m so happy that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle wasn’t just a hastily whipped-up cash grab (pun intended). Movie licensed video games can be very hit or miss but it's genuinely fantastic and of one of my favourite games of the year.

I was kind of expecting the game to be an action/adventure in the same vein as Uncharted but it’s less linear and more akin to something like the most recent Deus Ex games. It definitely has some fantastic action-heavy set pieces but it also has a lot of fun exploration, side quests, and puzzle solving which I really loved.

You don’t necessarily have to be an Indy enthusiast to enjoy the game but it has a lot of little callbacks and Easter eggs that long-time fans will appreciate. It looks and sounds very faithful to the movies too, not to mention Troy Baker’s spot-on Harrison Ford impression. Above all else it’s always satisfying to clobber a Nazi over the head with a shovel.
