Review #002 – Harold Halibut
An awesome aesthetic, but gameplay gets a hair-old.

Harold Halibut is a decent game but it's very slow paced, overly long, and lacking any exciting gameplay nuance. It is extremely narrative-heavy so the game mostly revolves around roaming a spacecraft and talking to people. You will explore the same 5-6 areas of the map over and over again and yes — there is a load time between each zone. I remember having to painstakingly travel back and forth between two sections multiple times in a row at one point.
Despite the unexciting gameplay I did find the story to be fairly interesting and propelled me through what is an otherwise boring, plodding game. I ended up liking a few of the characters and the story goes in some weird, unexpected directions.
The best and most impressive part of the game is its unique, stop-motion aesthetic which is super well done. So, really, it’s not a bad game — you just need to grind through some overly stretched-out moments to reach the game’s conclusion.
